Belton, Texas – The person who was killed on Thursday in a two-vehicle crash in Belton has been identified as 70-year-old John Cowen, of Salado, according to the Belton Police Department.

The fatal crash occurred around 5:15 p.m., June 13, at the intersection of FM 1670 and Auction Barn Road.

Police said Cowen was driving westbound on Auction Barn Road when he failed to yield the right of way as he turned onto FM 1670 and collided with another vehicle.

Cowen was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash temporarily closed FM 1670 at Auction Barn Road.

The Belton PD CRASH team is investigating the crash.
