John Redfield Killed in San Leon Motorcycle Accident on Bayshore Drive

San Leon, Texas (December 6, 2021) – A motorcyclist was killed Tuesday night in a hit-and-run accident in San Leon, according to the authorities.

The deadly accident happened around 7:00 p.m., November 30, in front of The Saloon on Bayshore Drive.

Authorities said John Redfield was riding his motorcycle, and as he was passing the Saloon, a white car pulled out in front of him, and he hit the car.

The car driver, a woman, pulled over to help, but moments later, a truck went around the white car and hit Redfield as he was laying on the road.

The truck fled the scene after the accident.

Redfield was killed in the accident.

The woman who was driving the white car was arrested on charges of intoxicated assault with a vehicle.

The truck driver, Jesse Ray Bales, 48, was arrested four days later during a traffic stop by Galveston County Sheriff’s Office deputies. His bond was set at $81,000.

The authorities are investigating the crash.

Most motorcycle crashes are caused by negligent drivers who don’t keep a proper lookout or fail to yield the right-of-way. Because motorcyclists are vulnerable, their injuries are usually severe, often suffering from road rash, broken bones, brain injuries, amputations, or spinal cord injuries. In some cases, the accident results in death.
