Johnathon Lopez Dies One Day after Lubbock Pedestrian Accident on Marsha Sharp Freeway

Lubbock, Texas (June 3, 2022) – The pedestrian who died Thursday, one day after being struck by a vehicle in Lubbock has been identified as Johnathon Lopez, 26.

The accident happened around 1:25 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, in the 3800 block of Marsha Sharp Freeway.

Police said a Nissan Altima, driven by 23-year-old Jordan McCullough, was traveling eastbound on the freeway when it struck 26-year-old Johnathon Lopez, who was attempting to cross the freeway.

Lopez sustained serious injuries and was taken to University Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries early Thursday morning.

A GoFundMe page has been created to help cover funeral expenses.

The Lubbock Police Department’s Major Crash Unit is investigating the crash.
