Sheriff’s Deputy Struck, Injured by Vehicle During Jeep Weekend Event at Crystal Beach in Galveston County

Galveston County Sheriff’s Deputy Airlifted after Crystal Beach Accident Sunday Morning

Galveston County, Texas (May 22, 2022) – A Galveston County sheriff’s deputy was injured after being struck by a vehicle early Sunday morning during the Jeep Weekend event in Galveston County, according to a local news source.

The incident happened at about 1:30 a.m. at Crystal Beach.

A vehicle driven by an alleged DUI driver reportedly hit the deputy. The officer nearly went through the windshield after the crash.

The deputy sustained two broken legs, a broken arm and head injuries and was airlifted to UTMB in Galveston, where he is expected to undergo surgery.

The driver was booked into jail on suspicion of DUI and bail was set at $100,000.

No additional information was available.

The crash remains under investigation.
