Jonathan Estrada and Jacqueline Martinez Killed, Isaias Herrera and Rogelio Almora Injured in Panola County Two-Vehicle Crash on Texas 315

Panola County, Texas (October 28, 2021) – According to the Texas DPS, four were killed, and three others were injured Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Panola County.

The fatal crash happened around 10:20 a.m., October 27, on Texas 315, about nine miles southwest of Carthage.

DPS said a truck-tractor towing a semi-trailer was traveling southwest while a car was traveling northeast.

The car was traveling at an unsafe speed for the wet roadway conditions, and it hydroplaned into oncoming traffic where it collided with the truck tractor.

The car driver, Jonathan Estrada, 27, of Rio Grande City, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jacqueline Martinez, 26, of Rio Grande City, who was a passenger in the car, and two other passengers, a 9-year-old girl and, a 4-year-old, were pronounced dead at the scene. Another 9-year-old girl was taken to a Tyler medical center in critical condition.

The truck-tractor driver, Isaias Cordero Herrera, 29, of Rio Bravo, Mexico, was taken to Henderson Medical Center, where he was treated and released. A passenger in the truck, Rogelio Flores Almora, 36, of Rio Bravo, Mexico, also was taken to the Henderson Medical Center, where he was treated and released.

The authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.
