San Angelo, Texas (August 13, 2021) – According to the authorities, the man who was seriously injured Tuesday afternoon in a rear-end collision in San Angelo has died.

Jonathan Fortenberry, 23, was pronounced dead at 6:30 a.m., on August 12.

The crash happened on August 10, in the eastbound lanes of W Houston Harte Expressway Eastbound.

Police said TXDOT was doing maintenance on some signs, so traffic was moving slowly. Fortenberry was driving a silver Subaru SUV when he rear-ended a semi-truck trailer.

A GoFundMe page has been created to help the family pay for funeral expenses.

Officers said alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

The police are conducting the investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

While there are many causes of car accidents, the most common reasons of driver negligence include driver inattention; cell phone use; texting and driving; speeding; fatigue; failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive; running a red light; and driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” Attorney Joel A. Gordon said. Mr. Gordon believes that an independent investigation is important. An Attorney will help obtain the crash report, secure accident photos, interview witnesses, and create a claim.
