San Antonio, Texas (November 8, 2021) – Three people were injured early Sunday morning in a wrong-way crash in San Antonio’s North Side, according to the police.

The crash happened around 2:00 a.m., November 7, in the 2300 block of Bitters Road at the intersection of N Loop 1604.

Police said a blue Chevrolet Silverado was traveling eastbound on Loop 1604 access road when it struck a raised curb while making a right turn at the intersection. It then went across the southbound lanes of Bitters Road and hit a light pole that was in the median. It continued heading southbound in the northbound lanes for about 785 feet before it crashed into a white Honda Civic.

The impact caused the Silverado to burst into flames. A Good Samaritan pulled the driver out of the truck before first responders arrived.

Two people in the Civic were taken to University Hospital with serious injuries.

The Silverado driver was taken to North Central Baptist Hospital for treatment. They were found to have been intoxicated at the time of the crash and will be arrested and charged with two counts of intoxication assault.

An investigation is underway.
