Jorge Villanueva Killed in Rio Hondo Two-Vehicle Crash on FM 106 near Nelson Road

Rio Hondo, Texas (November 24, 2023) – The man who was killed in a head-on collision on Thanksgiving morning in Rio Hondo has been identified as 42-year-old Jorge Villanueva, of Rio Hondo, according to officials.

The fatal crash happened just after 10:00 a.m., November 23, on FM 106 near Nelson Road.

Officials said a brown Chevrolet Silverado tried to pass another vehicle traveling eastbound and collided head-on with a westbound brown Saturn Outlook.

Villanueva, who was driving the Saturn, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Chevrolet driver was taken to Valley Baptist Medical Center and then airlifted to DHR Health in Edinburg.

No other details were provided.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
