Jose Ayala Killed in Hidalgo County Two-Vehicle Crash on FM 2221 near Texan Road

Hidalgo County, Texas (February 28, 2022) – One person was killed, and two others were injured Saturday night in a two-vehicle crash in Hidalgo County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 9:30 p.m., February 26, on FM 2221, east of Texan Road.

DPS said a Nissan Altima and a Dodge Nitro were involved in the collision.

The female driver of the Dodge and her male passenger were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The Nissan driver, Jose Gilberto Ayala, was taken to Doctors Hospital at Renaissance, where he was pronounced dead.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
