Kempner Man Injured in 3-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 14 in Killeen

49-Year-Old Kempner Man Hospitalized after Killeen Crash on Interstate 14 near Clear Creek Overpass

Killeen, Texas (August 4, 2022) – A man was hospitalized after a three-vehicle collision Tuesday in Killeen, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The crash happened at around noon on Tuesday, August 2, on Interstate 14 near the Clear Creek overpass.

DPS said a 2009 Chevrolet Avalanche was transporting an unsecured freezer in the cargo area. The freezer fell out of the cargo area and onto the highway blocking the outside lane.

A 2014 Honda Accord pulled over in the lane of traffic to prevent other traffic from colliding with the freezer. A 2022 Dodge Ram pickup saw the stopped vehicle and tried to avoid a collision but instead hit the Honda.

As a result of the crash, the Honda rolled over several times and came to a rest on its side in the roadway.

The driver of the pickup, a 49-year-old Kempner man, was taken to AdventHealth-Central Texas, where he was treated for his injuries.

This crash remains under investigation. Additional information is not available at this time.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
