Lesley Paul Clanton Killed in 2-Vehicle Crash on US Hwy 259 in Gregg County

48-Year-Old Lesley Paul Clanton Killed in Gregg County Two-Vehicle Crash on US Highway 259

Gregg County, Texas (May 23, 2020) – One person was killed early Saturday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Gregg County, six miles north of Longview, DPS said.

The fatal crash happened at about 4:14 a.m. on US Highway 259.

DPS said Lesley Paul Clanton, 48, of Mineola, was driving a 2000 Chevrolet 1500 northbound on the highway when he struck a guardrail. 

Clanton then got out of her vehicle to inspect the damage, and that is when a 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Bertha Idalia Venzor, 53, of Ore City, hit him and his car. Clanton was also hit by his vehicle.

Clanton was pronounced dead at the scene.

Venzor was uninjured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
