Lili Hernandez Killed and Four Injured in Donna Three-Vehicle Crash on FM 493 and Stiles Road

Donna, Texas (September 2, 2022) – One person was killed, and four others were injured on Thursday in a three-vehicle crash in Donna, according to the authorities.

The fatal crash happened on September 1, in the area of FM 493 and Stiles Road.

Authorities said at about 2:45 p.m., a man was evading law enforcement in a black Nissan Altima and was traveling southbound on FM 493 and Stiles Road. He made a U-turn to travel northbound on FM 493 and crashed into a blue Saturn ION occupied by four people and a blue Toyota occupied by one person.

One of the passengers in the Saturn was pronounced dead at the scene. She has been identified as Lili Sanlucar Hernandez, 53, of Donna. The other three passengers and the Toyota driver were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The suspect, Matthew Ryan Cortez, 26, of Weslaco, was also taken to the hospital for treatment, where he was treated and released. He was then taken to Hidalgo County jail and has been charged with evading arrest with a motor vehicle causing serious bodily injury and murder.

The DPS troopers are investigating the crash.
