Jillian Coatney and Genesta Humphrey Killed in League City Two-Vehicle Crash on FM 646 and Gill Road

League City, Texas (April 6, 2013) – Two women were killed Tuesday night in a crash involving a suspected drunk driver in League City, according to the authorities.

The fatal crash happened around 7:30 p.m., April 4, on FM 646 and Gill Road.

Authorities said 69-year-old Michael Ray Strother was leaving Hugh & Jeff’s Car Wash and Grill. A car was heading eastbound on FM 646 when it was struck by Strother, who was leaving the parking lot in a truck and was trying to cross traffic to head westbound.

The passenger in the car, Jillian Coatney, 24, was pronounced dead at the scene. The car driver, Genesta Humphrey, 28, was taken to the hospital, where she later died.

Strother has been charged with two counts of intoxication manslaughter, which could be upgraded depending on what the investigation uncovers.

The crash remains under investigation.
