Luis Torres ID’d as Person Killed in Houston DUI Crash on Katy Freeway at Studemont
Houston, Texas (April 7, 2019) – The person who was killed Saturday morning in an alleged DUI crash in Houston has been identified as Luis Torres, according to authorities.
The tragic accident happened on the Katy Freeway at Studemont Saturday, April 6.
Authorities said traffic was a standstill on the Katy Freeway eastbound when a maroon car traveling at a high rate of speed rear-ended another vehicle driven by Torres.
The maroon car then struck a white pickup truck, which then slammed into an 18-wheeler.
Torres was pronounced dead at the scene. Sheila Brown, 33, who was the driver of the maroon car, went to a hospital.
Brown was later arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter along with failure to stop and render aid to the victim. Her bond was set at $60,000.
The driver of the 18-wheeler and the white pickup truck were unhurt in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
