Man Killed in Houston Pedestrian Accident on Katy Freeway; Marco Antonio Juarez Arrested 

Houston, Texas (February 21, 2023) – A man was fatally hit by an impaired driver early Saturday morning in Houston, according to the police.

The deadly accident happened just before 4:00 a.m., February 18, on the Katy Freeway (Interstate 10).

Police said a man ran out of gas and called for a ride-share driver to pick him up. The ride-share driver took him to get gas and brought him back to his vehicle. As the man was putting gas in his Chrysler 300, he was struck by a westbound dark-colored Toyota Tundra pickup. The impact caused the man to hit the rear of the ride-share vehicle.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

The Tundra became disabled after the impact, and the driver, Marco Antonio Juarez, was taken into custody after showing signs of impairment. He has been charged with intoxication manslaughter.

The police are investigating the crash.
