Man Hit, Killed by Vehicle on Amarillo Boulevard East in Amarillo

72-Year-Old Man Killed in Amarillo Pedestrian Accident on Amarillo Boulevard East near Grant Street

Amarillo, Texas (August 11, 2022) – A male pedestrian died after he was struck by a vehicle Sunday night in Amarillo, according to a report by the Amarillo Police Department.

The fatal pedestrian accident took place in the 700 block of Amarillo Boulevard East near Grant Street on August 7.

Police said the pedestrian, only identified as a 72-year-old man, was crossing Amarillo Boulevard from south to east when he was hit by an orange Jeep Wrangler that was traveling westbound on Amarillo Boulevard passing Grant Street.

The man was transported to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.

The driver of the Jeep, Alejandra Martinez, 26, was arrested and booked into the Potter County Detention Center for intoxication manslaughter.

The APD Traffic Investigation Unit is investigating the crash.
