San Antonio, Texas – A man in his 30s was fatally hit by a commercial vehicle while trying to chase down his dogs Sunday night in San Antonio’s East Side, according to the police.

The deadly accident happened around 10:00 p.m., April 7, on Interstate 10 near Dietrich Road.

Police said the man was having vehicle problems and was on the right shoulder of the highway when at some point his dogs got loose. That is when he chased the dogs on the access road. He caught one, but he was hit by a commercial vehicle.

One dog was seriously injured, while the other made it safely to the side of the road.

The driver of the commercial vehicle pulled over and tried to help.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

The police are investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, bicycle, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
