Marco Mendoza Killed in Peñitas Car Crash at Washington Palm Drive and FM 2221

Peñitas, Texas (December 13, 2020) – A man was killed, and four other people were injured Friday night in a rollover crash in Peñitas, according to police.

The fatal crash happened around 6:30 p.m., December 11, at the intersection of Washington Palm Drive and FM 2221.

Police said a white GMC truck ran a stop sign and went airborne at the intersection. It struck a 22-year-old woman who was walking on the edge of the roadway.

The driver then attempted to re-enter the roadway but skidded across the roadway and rolled over onto Washington Palm Drive.

The GMC driver and three passengers were ejected from the vehicle.

Marco Mendoza, 24, was killed in the crash.

The other three victims and the pedestrian were taken to local hospitals for treatment.

 The crash remains under investigation.
