Margarito Flores Killed and Seven Hospitalized After O’Donnell Two-Vehicle Crash on US 87

O’Donnell, Texas (May 12, 2022) – One person was killed and seven others were hospitalized following a two-vehicle crash Tuesday evening in O’Donnell, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened just after 6:00 p.m., May 10, on US 87 at Ninth Street.

DPS said Donald Ray Huda, 60, was driving a semi-truck and was stopped at a yield sign at the crossover at the intersection with Ninth Street preparing to turn southbound on US 87. The trailer that was being towed by the semi-truck was partially in the northbound lanes of US 87 when it was struck by a northbound a Ford Explorer.

A passenger in Explorer, Margarito Martinez Flores, 36, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Explorer driver, 25-year-old Fernando Ponce Martinez, and passenger, Antonio Adomino Cueva, 33, were taken to University Medical Center with serious injuries.

Huda was treated and released at the scene.

Five other passengers in the Explorer were taken to the hospital for treatment.

No other details regarding the crash were provided.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
