Maria Rita Rubio Killed in Arlington Pedestrian Accident on Interstate 20

Arlington, Texas (January 10, 2021) – A woman was killed, and another was injured Friday night after they were struck by a vehicle in Arlington, according to authorities.

The fatal crash happened around 10:30 p.m., January 8, in the 5000 block of West Interstate 20 between Green Oaks Boulevard and Kelly Elliott Road.

Police said a pickup truck became disabled in the inside lane and shoulder of the freeway after being involved in a crash.

A driver pulled over to help the disabled truck.

Two women inside the truck got out of the vehicle and were standing on the inside shoulder as a third vehicle approached.

The driver of the third car went up onto the shoulder to avoid hitting the stopped vehicles and struck the women who were standing outside the truck.

One of the women, Maria Rita Rubio, 43, of Snyder, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other woman was taken to a local hospital with severe injuries.

The driver of the third car stopped at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

The authorities are investigating the crash.

“When a person has suffered a grave personal injury in an accident due to someone else’s negligence, the most overwhelming emotion they feel is a sense of injustice. They often ask how such a life-altering event could have happened to them,” attorney Joel A. Gordon said. “The next question usually is, who can help me?” Mr. Gordon added.

A legal advocate can represent an injury victim or the family of a deceased victim. The attorney will file a claim on behalf of the victim and will have the responsibility of citing existing codes, laws, or statutes which were violated.
