Vernon Groze Killed and Bradley McMullen Injured in Trinity County Three-Vehicle Crash on SH 94

Trinity County, Texas (October 22, 2021) – One person was killed, and another was injured Thursday morning in a three-vehicle crash in Trinity County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 6:05 a.m., October 21, on State Highway 94, approximately one mile north of FM 3317, near Groveton.

DPS said a 1995 Chevrolet pickup was traveling westbound on the highway and was being followed by a 2017 Dodge Ram pickup. A 1989 Mack truck tractor semi-trailer hauling logs was pulling out of a driveway to travel eastbound.

The Mack driver failed to yield the right of way, causing the Chevrolet and the Dodge to hit the trailer that was being towed by the Mack.

The Chevrolet driver, Vernon Groze, 47, of Longview, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Dodge driver, Bradley McMullen, 38, of Kennard, was taken to Crockett Medical Center for treatment.

The Mack driver, Richard Ellis, 54, of Corrigan, was uninjured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.

Commercial trucks are known to cause over 90% of accidents in Houston. These truck drivers must understand that their actions majorly contribute to most of the accidents on the roads. It is also important for others on the same roads with truck drivers to understand that maximum precaution should be taken while driving near trucks. While small mistakes like ignoring the turn signal prior to turning may cause accidents, major causes of these accidents are rooted in other factors like exhaustion on the part of truck drivers. If the reasons for the crash are anchored to the failure of following the right turn or driving at a speed that is not legally recommended a wrongful death lawyer will be useful in such scenarios.

If you have lost a loved one in an accident with a huge truck, it is advisable to get a lawyer who will facilitate the process of compensation.
