Dorien Helms Injured in Fatal Highway 73 Crash in Jefferson County

Dorien Helms ID’d as Driver Injured in Fatal Jefferson County Crash on Highway 73 near LaBelle Road

Jefferson County, (August 23, 2023) – The person who was injured in a deadly crash on Tuesday evening in Jefferson County has been identified as Dorien Helms, 20, of Clute.

The deadly crash happened at around 6.00 p.m. Tuesday, 22 on Highway 73 near LaBelle Road.

Authorities said a Mitsubishi passenger car, driven by Sang, was heading eastbound on Highway 73 when the passenger car cross over the grassy median into the westbound lane and was hit by a Chevrolet pickup, driven by Helms, who was traveling westbound.

Sang and one of his passengers, Garcia-Alban, were declared dead at the scene.

The driver of the pickup was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment.

The crash remains under investigation.
