Joyce Cawis ID’d as Woman Killed in Garland Hit-and-Run Car Crash at Jupiter Road and Forest Lane

Garland, Texas (November 16, 2019) – The woman who was killed in a hit-and-run car crash Thursday night in Garland has been identified as Joyce Cawis,46, of Rowlett, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened around 11:45 p.m. November 14, in the area of Jupiter Road and Forest Lane.

Police said a black Dodge Ram Big Horn pickup was speeding northbound on Jupiter Road when it struck a Toyota 4Runner which was heading westbound on Forest Lane.

The 4Runner driver, Cawis, had to be extricated from her vehicle and was taken to the hospital where she later died.

According to witnesses, the Dodge driver abandoned the wrecked quad-cab pickup, got into a black and fled the scene.

The suspect was identified only as a Hispanic man with a short fade haircut who wore a black soccer-style jersey with white writing on the front and back, along with black shorts and leggings.
