Walter Wilkins ID’d as Man Killed in Lubbock Pedestrian Accident at Slide Road and 98th Street

Lubbock, Texas (October 19, 2023) – The man who died after he was hit by a vehicle Wednesday evening at an intersection in south Lubbock has been identified as Walter Wilkins, 78.

The deadly crash happened at around 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 18, at the intersection of Slide Road and 98th Street.

Police said Wilkins was crossing 98th Street, walking southbound, when he was struck by a passenger van that was heading eastbound.

Wilkins was declared dead at the scene.

Further details about the crash were not immediately provided.

The crash remains under investigation.
