Waco, Texas (June 8, 2021) – One person was killed in a motorcycle crash Sunday afternoon in Waco, according to the authorities.

The deadly accident happened around 2:45 p.m., June 6, at the intersection of N. 30th Street and Gorman Avenue.

Authorities said a motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Gorman while a truck was traveling southbound on N. 30th Street. The vehicles then collided at the intersection.

The motorcyclist, 61-year-old Mark Barnes of Waco, was taken to Baylor Scott and White at Hillcrest Hospital, where he later died.

The authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.

Most motorcycle crashes are caused by negligent drivers who don’t keep a proper lookout or fail to yield the right-of-way. Because motorcyclists are vulnerable, their injuries are usually severe, often suffering from road rash, broken bones, brain injuries, amputations, or spinal cord injuries. In some cases the accident results in death.
