Journee McDaniel Killed in Houston Two-Vehicle Crash on Cullen Boulevard and Schurmier Road

Houston, Texas (December 20, 2021) – The 7-year-old girl who was injured Saturday evening in a hit-and-run crash in Houston has died, according to the police.

The crash happened on December 11, at the intersection of Cullen Boulevard and Schurmier Road, just north of the South Sam Houston Parkway.

Police said a black Ford F-150 pickup was traveling westbound on Schurmier when it ran a stop sign and T-boned a Dodge Dart, which was traveling northbound on Cullen.

The 7-year-old girl, who was a passenger in the Dodge, was taken to Memorial Hermann in the Texas Medical Center in critical condition, where she was pronounced dead on Monday. She has been identified as Journee McDaniel.

The family set up a GoFundMe page to raise money to pay for Journee’s funeral.

The Dodge driver and a 7-year-old boy also sustained injuries in the crash.

A male driver and two other passengers in the Ford fled the scene on foot after the accident.

The police are investigating the crash. Anyone with any information about the crash, including the identities of the Ford occupants, is asked to call HPD’s Hit and Run Unit at 713-247-4072 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).

We pass our condolences to the family and friends of Journee McDaniel.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

While there are many causes of car accidents, the most common reasons of driver negligence include driver inattention; cell phone use; texting and driving; speeding; fatigue; failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive; running a red light; and driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” Attorney Joel A. Gordon said. Mr. Gordon believes that an independent investigation is important. An Attorney will help obtain the crash report, secure accident photos, interview witnesses, and create a claim.
