Marlon McDaniel and Hollis McDaniel Killed, Don Houston Injured in Tyler County Two-Vehicle Crash on US 69 near RR 255

Tyler County, Texas (October 17, 2023) – Two people were killed, and another was injured early Monday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Tyler County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 5:00 a.m., October 16, on Highway 69, just south of Recreational Road 255.

DPS said Don Houston, 61, of Lufkin, was driving a Chevy Silverado when he crossed over into the oncoming lane and struck a southbound Chevrolet Spark driven by Marlon McDaniel, 46, of Woodville.

Houston was taken to Woodland Heights Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Marlon and passenger, Hollis McDaniel, 45, of Woodville, were both pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
