Houston, Texas – One person was killed on Sunday in a hit-and-run crash in Houston, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened around 2:45 p.m., on December 17, at the intersection of 101 Canino Road and Airline Drive near Airline Village.

Police said Ricardo Esmin Sanchez Reyes, 29, was driving a silver Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck when he allegedly ran a red light and T-boned Martin Arroyo’s vehicle.

Reyes also hit a red Chevrolet Camaro, a blue Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, and a Ford F-150 pickup truck waiting at a red light.

Arroyo was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the car, which landed on top of him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Reyes and two of his passengers ran from the scene. Reyes was later arrested and has now been charged with failure to stop and render aid involving death. His bond is set at $50,000.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, bicycle, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
