Martin Landaverde Killed in Smith County Two-Vehicle Crash on FM 2661

Smith County, Texas (October 16, 2020) – Two people were killed Thursday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Smith County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 6:20 a.m., October 15, on FM 2661, west of Noonday.

According to a preliminary investigation, Martin Landaverde, 53, of Ben Wheeler, was driving a 2002 Nissan Frontier southbound on the highway while Angela Hopkins Bryan, 35, of Ben Wheeler, was driving a 1999 Ford F150 northbound.

For unknown reasons, Bryan crossed over the center stripe and crashed into the Nissan.

Landaverde was pronounced at the scene.

Bryan was taken to UT-Health –Tyler, where she later died.

No other details regarding the crash were provided.

The crash remains under investigation.
