Masao Skilling Hit, Killed by Train on E Business Highway 190 in Copperas Cove

Masao Skilling ID’d as Man Killed in Copperas Cove Train Accident on East Business Highway 190

Copperas Cove, Texas (January 19, 2023) – The pedestrian who died after being struck by a train on Sunday afternoon in Copperas Cove has been identified as Masao Joverson Skilling, 21.

According to the Copperas Cove Police Department, the fatal wreck took place at about 2:11 p.m. Sunday, January 15, in the 1500 block of East Business Highway 190.

Police said Skilling had been laying on the train tracks. The conductor had alerted him and attempted to activate their emergency-stopping system.

Skilling attempted to avoid the impact but was unable to do so in time.

Skilling was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
