Matthew Smith Killed in Highway 152 Accident in Moore County

Matthew Smith Among 2 Killed in Moore County Crash on Highway 152 near Dumas

Moore County, Texas (April 9, 2023) – Matthew Smith, 25, of Borger, was among two people who were killed in a traffic accident early Saturday morning in Moore County, according to a report by the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The fatal wreck occurred at around 3:00 a.m. Saturday, April 8 on Highway 152 approximately 17.5 miles east of Dumas.

As per the DPS report, Smith was driving a  2015 Chrysler 200 eastbound on Highway 152 while a 2004 Ford Taurus, driven by Jeremy Lamb, 45, of Fairfield, Montana, was traveling westbound on Highway 152.

The Ford reportedly veered into the eastbound lane, where collided head-on with the Chrysler. After the collision, the Ford stopped in the eastbound lane while the Chrysler came to rest on the improved shoulder facing northbound.

Smith and Lamb were declared dead at the scene. A passenger in the Ford was airlifted to Amarillo Northwest Texas hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Lamb and his passenger were wearing seat belts, while Smith was not wearing the seatbelt.

The posted speed limit was 75 mph, and road conditions were dry and clear at the time of the accident. The Texas Highway Patrol Troopers investigating the crash.
