Melanie Scott ID’d as Woman Killed in Parker County Crash at FM 51 and Old Springtown Road

Parker County, Texas (January 10, 2023) – The woman who died following a Monday morning traffic accident north of Weatherford in Parker County has been identified as Melanie Scott.

The deadly crash happened at around 7:30 a.m. Monday, January 9, at the intersection of Farm-to-Market Road 51 and Old Springtown Road, about four miles north of Weatherford.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Scott was driving a Chevrolet Cobalt westbound when she tried to turn southbound on FM 51 and failed to yield right of way to oncoming traffic. An 18-wheeler traveling northbound on FM 51 hit the Cobalt on the driver’s side.

Scott was declared dead at the scene of the crash. A 10-year-old sustained incapacitating injuries and was taken to a hospital in Fort Worth.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
