Woman Killed, Seven Injured in Brooks County Three-Vehicle Crash at SH 285 at CR 401

Brooks County, Texas (March 3, 2021) – A woman was killed, and seven other people were injured Monday evening in a multi-vehicle crash in Brooks County, according to the authorities.

The fatal crash happened around 6:44 p.m., March 1, at the intersection of County Road 401 and State Highway 285.

Authorities said a Chevy Trax ran a stop sign at the intersection and hit a utility trailer attached to a Ford F-350.

The force of the impact caused the trailer to overturn into the westbound lane of SH 285, where it was struck by a Chevy Traverse.

The Traverse overturned multiple times.

A female passenger in the Traverse was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and a passenger of the Chevy Trax were taken to Christus Spohn Hospital Shoreline with serious injuries and were listed in stable condition.

The Ford F-350 driver was treated and released at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
