Moises Joribio ID’d as Man Killed in Mineola Crash on U.S. Highway 69 near County Road 2260

Mineola, Texas (September 21, 2023) – The man who died following a DUI crash last week on Saturday in Mineola has been identified as 41-year-old Moises B. Joribio of Mineola, Texas.

The deadly crash happened at around 3:53 p.m. on September 16 on U.S. Highway 69 and County Road 2260.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Joribio was driving a 2009 Toyota Camry and was attempting to yield to oncoming traffic to make a left turn onto County Road 2260 when his vehicle was rear-ended by a 2018 Ford Explorer, driven by 25-year-old Maxwell H. Lee.

DPS said Lee, a resident of Quitman, Texas, was unable to control his speed, which led to the collision.

Joribio died in the crash. His passenger, 29-year-old Jesus T. Beltran, also of Mineola, Texas, was transported to UT Health Hospital in Quitman, Texas, with non-incapacitating injuries.

Lee, who was intoxicated at the time of the crash, was charged for intoxication manslaughter.

The weather was clear and the road conditions were dry at the time of the incident. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

DPS is investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, bicycle, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
