Michael Maraist Killed in New Braunfels Two-Vehicle Crash on North Business 35 

New Braunfels, Texas (July 13, 2020) – A San Antonio man was killed Saturday night in a two-vehicle crash in New Braunfels, according to police.

The fatal crash happened at about 10:40 p.m. July 11, in the 600 block of North Business 35.

Police said 26-year-old Michael Maraist was driving a Ford Focus at a high rate of speed on the southbound I-35 access road when he missed a turn in the road and left the roadway. The Focus then traveled through a grassy median and into oncoming traffic, where it collided with a Ford Transit 350 van occupied by a family of two adults and four young children.

Maraist was killed in the crash.

The family was taken to Christus Santa Rosa Hospital in New Braunfels with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
