Michelle Lira and Blanca Lira Killed in Upper Valley Two-Vehicle Crash on Artcraft Road at Upper Valley Road

Upper Valley, Texas (October 20, 2022) – A mother and daughter were killed Tuesday morning in a crash in the Upper Valley, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened around 8:50 a.m., in the 600 block of Artcraft Road at Upper Valley Road.

Police said Michelle Lira, 37, was driving a 2016 Ford Fusion eastbound on Artcraft when she attempted to make a U-turn and failed to yield the right of way to a tractor-trailer driven by Michael Thomas Denney, 30, of East El Paso. The Ford was then hit by the tractor-trailer.

Lira and her mother, Blanca Lira, 59, both of Sunland Park, New Mexico, were killed in the crash.

A GoFundMe has been created to help the family with funeral expenses.

The crash remains under investigation.
