Mike Zungia Killed in Electrocution Accident on Chesswood Drive in San Antonio

Mike Zungia ID’d as Man Killed in San Antonio Electrocution Accident on Chesswood Drive

San Antonio, Texas (September 27, 2019) – The man who was electrocuted Thursday morning in San Antonio has been identified as Mike Zungia, 38, according to the police.

The accident happened around 10:00 a.m. September 26, in the 100 block of Chesswood Drive near a CPS Energy powerline.

Police said Zungia, Jose Maciel, 56, and Santos Ortiz, 55, were part of a private landscaping company and were trimming trees along Chesswood Drive.

Zungia and Maciel were in the bucket of a towable articulating man-lift when Zungia was electrocuted.

Zungia was declared dead at the scene.

Maciel sustained burns to his hands while Ortiz sustained a mild electric shock after he tried to lower the bucket to the ground.

Responding emergency crews could not lower the two men in the bucket until CPS cut the power.

An investigation is ongoing.
