Miriam Valeriano Killed in Dallas Two-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 20

Dallas, Texas (March 23, 2021) – A woman was killed, and a 16-year-old boy was arrested following a two-vehicle crash that left four other people injured early Sunday morning in Dallas, according to deputies.

The fatal crash happened around 12:45 a.m., March 21, in the 39500 block of Interstate 20 eastbound.

Authorities said the 16-year-old boy was driving a 2007 Nissan when he rear-ended a Ford F150.

The force of the impact caused both vehicles to veer to the right and spin. The Ford then overturned down an embankment.

The Ford driver, a 50-year-old Miriam Valeriano, was pronounced dead at the scene.

There were four passengers in the Ford at the time of the crash, an 11-year-old girl, a 17-year-old boy, an 18-year-old man and a 37-year-old man.

The children were taken to Children’s Hospital in stable condition while the men were taken to Methodist Central in stable condition.

The Nissan driver fled the scene on foot, but he was found shortly and arrested. He was taken to the Henry Ward Juvenile Facility on a charge of failing to stop and render aid in an accident involving death.

An investigation into the accident is underway.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

While there are many causes of car accidents, the most common reasons of driver negligence include driver inattention; cell phone use; texting and driving; speeding; fatigue; failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive; running a red light; and driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” Attorney Joel A. Gordon said. Mr. Gordon believes that an independent investigation is important. An Attorney will help obtain the crash report, secure accident photos, interview witnesses, and create a claim.
