Brenda Patterson Killed in Navarro County Two-Vehicle Crash on Interstate Highway 45

Navarro County, Texas (June 2, 2020) – According to a local news source, a woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash Friday morning, about two miles north of the Freestone County line in Navarro County.

The fatal crash happened around 11:15 a.m. May 29, on Interstate Highway 45.

According to a preliminary investigation, 68-year-old Brenda Patterson, of Carrollton, was driving a 2018 Honda Accord southbound in the middle lane of the freeway at a very reduced speed. The Honda was then rear-ended by a southbound 2015 Kenworth truck tractor towing a 2012 Stoughton semi-trailer driven by 48-year-old Harold Harden, of Garland.

The impact caused the Honda to spin off the roadway to the right. It came to a stop partially on the improved shoulder and partially in the lane of travel. The truck came to a stop on the right, improved shoulder.

Patterson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Harden was uninjured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.

We pass our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Brenda Patterson.

Commercial trucks are known to cause over 90% of accidents in Houston. These truck drivers must understand that their actions majorly contribute to most of the accidents on the roads. It is also important for others on the same roads with truck drivers to understand that maximum precaution should be taken while driving near trucks. While small mistakes like ignoring the turn signal prior to turning may cause accidents, major causes of these accidents are rooted in other factors like exhaustion on the part of truck drivers. If the reasons for the crash are anchored to the failure of following the right turn or driving at a speed that is not legally recommended, a wrongful death lawyer will be useful in such scenarios.

If you have lost a loved one in an accident with a huge truck, it is advisable to get a lawyer who will facilitate the process of compensation.
