Mitzi Minkler Killed in Head-On Crash on South Loop 335 in Amarillo

63-Year-Old Mitzi Minkler Killed in Amarillo Two-Vehicle Crash on South Loop 335 

Amarillo, Texas (February 13, 2020) – A woman was killed, and a boy was injured in a head-on collision Wednesday afternoon in Amarillo, according to the DPS.

The fatal crash took place around 4:15 p.m. on February 12, on South Loop 335.

DPS said Mitzi Minkler, 63, and a 7-year-old boy were traveling eastbound on the Loop in a 2006 Honda Accord while a tractor-trailer was traveling westbound.

Minkler crossed over, for unknown reasons, into the westbound lane where she crashed head-on into the truck.

Minkler was pronounced dead at the scene.

The boy was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No other injuries were reported in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
