Mom, infant Killed in Harris County Crash on Grand Parkway near U.S. 290

Harris County, Texas (February 16, 2023) – A mother and her baby were killed in a traffic accident on Wednesday morning in Harris County, according to police.

The deadly crash happened at around 8:20 a.m. on Wednesday, February 15, in the 14101 block of W. Grand Parkway, near the intersection with U.S. 290.

Police said a 2009 Toyota Camry was taking the exit ramp off SH-99 onto U.S. 290 when another vehicle in front braked abruptly and almost came to a stop.

The driver of the Camry swerved left to avoid the vehicle but ended up hitting a Toyota 4Runner. After the impact, the 4Runner hit the wall, flipped over the guardrail, and landed on its roof.

The Camry also hit a Volkswagen sedan.

The 28-year-old mother driving the 4Runner was pronounced dead at the scene. Her two sons, an infant and a 3-year-old, were transported to the hospital in critical condition, where the infant later died. The 3-year-old was listed as critical. Both children were in car seats.

The drivers of the Camry and Volkswagen were not injured in the crash.

Further details regarding the collision were immediately provided.

The crash remains under investigation.
