Motorcyclist Killed in Crash at Rancier Avenue and 10th Street in Killeen

Killeen, Texas – A motorcyclist was killed Thursday morning in a crash in Killeen, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened around 9:30 a.m., March 28, at the intersection of East Rancier Avenue and North 10th Street.

Police said a Texas DPS State Trooper was attempting to perform a traffic stop on a motorcyclist who was driving at a high rate of speed near the intersection of South Fort Hood Street and West Veterans Memorial Boulevard. The trooper caught up with the motorcyclist and began the traffic stop when the motorcyclist fled the scene eastbound on West Rancier Avenue at a high rate of speed.

The trooper pursued the motorcyclist. The motorcyclist ran a red light at the intersection of Rancier Avenue and North 10th Street and crashed into a blue Lexus that was driving northbound through the intersection.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity has not been released.

The Lexus driver was treated for minor injuries.

The police are investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, bicycle, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
