Motorcyclist Killed in Crash at Southlea Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard in Houston

43-Year-old Man Killed in Houston Motorcycle Accident at Southlea Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard

Houston, Texas (July 6, 2022) – A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a vehicle Tuesday evening at an intersection in Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.

The deadly crash happened at around 6:10 p.m. on July 5 at the intersection of Southlea Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Witnesses told the police that a 43-year-old man was riding a black Kawasaki motorcycle southbound near the 6400 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard and weaving in and out of traffic. At the same time, a red Dodge pickup truck traveling eastbound in the 5200 block of Southlea Street was pulling out of a stop sign and crossing the intersection of Martin Luther King Boulevard.

The Dodge was approaching the median when it was rear-ended by the motorcycle.

The male rider was thrown off the bike upon the impact. He was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. His name has not been released.

The Dodge driver stopped at the scene and cooperated with the authorities. Investigators determined that he was not intoxicated at the time of the accident.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
