Nestor Phillip Yruegas Killed in East Austin Pedestrian Accident on MLK Jr. Blvd at Airport Blvd

Austin, Texas (December 16, 2020) – The man who was fatally hit by a vehicle earlier this month in East Austin has been identified as Nestor Phillip Yruegas,49, according to police.

The deadly accident happened just before 6:00 a.m., December 2, on E. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd at Airport Blvd.

Police said Yruegas was crossing MLK and was attempting to catch a bus on Airport Blvd when he was struck by a vehicle.

Yruegas was pronounced dead at the scene.

The involved driver remained at the scene after the accident.

The police are investigating the crash. Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call APD’s Vehicular Homicide Unit Detectives at (512) 974-4424.
