Officer Austin Guerrero Injured in Car Crash on Highway 96 in Kirbyville

Officer Austin Guerrero Injured in Kirbyville Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 96

Kirbyville, Texas – A Jasper County Sheriff’s Office Deputy was injured Saturday night in a two-vehicle crash in Kirbyville, according to the authorities.

The crash happened around 6:45 p.m., January 6, on Highway 96.

Authorities said a 2016 Chevrolet pickup made a left turn into the Sonic and hit the deputy’s vehicle.

The deputy, 28-year-old Austin Guerrero of Nederland, was taken to Jasper Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Chevrolet driver, 64-year-old Burk Cooper of Kirbyville, was uninjured in the crash.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the accident.
