Officer Injured in San Antonio Two-Vehicle Crash near Loop 410 and Fredericksburg Road; 19-Year-Old Woman Arrested

San Antonio, Texas (August 1, 2023) – According to the police, a police officer was injured early Monday morning in a DWI crash in San Antonio.

The crash happened just before 2:00 a.m., July 31, near the intersection of Loop 410 and Fredericksburg Road.

Police said an incident began after a Balcones Heights police officer tried to pull the vehicle over after noticing it traveling at a high rate of speed with no highlights on. The officer turned on his emergency lights, but the driver instead sped off, ran a red light, and crashed into an SAPD DWI patrol unit, which was traveling through the Fredericksburg Road intersection.

The police officer was taken to a local hospital after sustaining a bruised arm in the crash.

The driver, a 19-year-old woman, was detained by Balcones Heights police. She was taken into custody and will be charged with driving while intoxicated.

The police are investigating the crash.
