One Killed, Off-Duty Arlington Police Officer Injured in Bicycle Crash on Dottie Lynn Parkway in Fort Worth

One Killed and Off-Duty Arlington Police Officer Hospitalized After Fort Worth Bicycle Crash on Dottie Lynn Parkway

Fort Worth, Texas (August 28, 2020) – One person was killed, and an off-duty Arlington police officer was injured in a bicycle crash Friday morning in Fort Worth, according to police.

The deadly accident happened around 6:30 a.m., on a bridge along Dottie Lynn Parkway over West Division Street.

Police said four cyclists, including the off-duty Arlington police officer, were riding on the bridge when they were struck by a car from behind.

One of the cyclists was pronounced dead at the scene.

The officer was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The other two cyclists sustained minor scrapes and bruises.

The car driver stayed at the scene after the crash.

Officers said alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

The police are investigating the crash.
