Patrick Garza Killed and Deputy Injured in Harris County Two-Vehicle Crash on Jones Road at Millridge North Drive

Harris County, Texas (April 7, 2022) – One person was killed and a Harris County deputy was injured Tuesday night in a head-on collision in Harris County, according to the deputies.

The fatal crash happened around 10:00 a.m., April 6, at the intersection of Jones Road and Millridge North Drive.

Deputies said the deputy was near the end of his shift and was driving northbound on Jones Road heading to the station.  A Nissan was traveling southbound on Jones Road when it tried to turn left onto Millridge North Drive and collided head-on with the deputy’s vehicle.

The Nissan driver, Patrick Garza, 44, possibly made an unprotected turn at a flashing yellow stoplight, according to the deputies.

The deputy and Garza were taken to the hospital where Garza later died.

Garza was possibly intoxicated at the time of the crash.

The deputy was released from the hospital early Wednesday.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
