Pedestrian Killed in Chain-Reaction Crash on LBJ Freeway in Garland; Aldamion Riles Arrested

One Killed in Garland Pedestrian Accident on LBJ Freeway (I- 635) near Centerville Road; Aldamion Riles Arrested

Garland, Texas (June 23, 2020) – A pedestrian was killed Monday morning in a traffic accident involving an impaired driver in Garland, according to police.

The deadly accident happened at about 9:00 a.m. June 22, in the northbound lanes of LBJ Freeway (Interstate-635) near Centerville Road.

Police said two vehicles were traveling northbound at a high rate of speed, darting in and out of traffic when one of them, a grey Dodge Challenger, struck a grey Jeep Liberty. The force of the impact pushed the Jeep onto the shoulder of the freeway where it struck a pedestrian.

The pedestrian was killed in the crash. Their identity has not been released.

Officers said the Challenger driver, 26-year-old Aldamion Riles, was impaired at the time of the crash, and he was arrested. He has been charged with intoxication manslaughter. He was also charged for unlawful carrying of a weapon after officers found a handgun that belonged to him. He was being held in the Garland Detention Center.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
