Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run on SH 45 in Austin

One Killed in NW Austin Pedestrian Accident on State Highway 45

Austin, Texas (April 20, 2021) – According to the police, a pedestrian was killed early Tuesday morning in a hit-and-run crash in northwest Austin.

The deadly accident happened around 2:30 a.m. on State Highway 45, near Parmer Lane.

Police said a homeless person was pushing a shopping cart across the highway when they were hit by a Lexus sedan.

The sedan driver fled the scene but later abandoned the vehicle.

The pedestrian was also hit by several other vehicles. The drivers of those vehicles stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity has not been released.

The accident closed the eastbound lanes of SH 45, but the frontage road remained open.

The APD’s vehicular homicide unit is investigating the crash.
